This book was not what I expected. The way the other characters weaved into the main thread, the ripples effects, and the minor shared points. I appreciated that no one story line was necessarily presented as better than the other; each was just different, with its own joys and challenges, excitement and sadness. I think the long view was a fascinating way to view this, and not just the 7 year leaps, but also the look back that occurred in the epilogue. The potential course adjustment that occurs before Bear/Julien/Gordon even enters the frame of possibility. It brings a long view of life and actions that feels both overwhelming and freeing in a way I cannot pin down.
