I really like the premise and was into this at first. But then a third of the way through, the momentum just tanked. I had days to finish it before Riveted took it down, and I couldn't be bothered to go back.

DNF'd. Kinda regret not finishing it while free, but not enough to do anything about it.

Great idea. Not executed for my tastes.

The Butterfly Effect and The Chaos Effect by Marieke Nijkamp - 2.5 stars. This story didn't work split into two, I read it as one whole which I would recommend.

A Ruthless Dame by Tim Floreen - 4 stars. Really enjoyed this one. A wicked revenge tale.

Look down by Robin Talley - 3.5 stars. Thought the protrag was a little dumb but I like a good ghost story.

Big Brother 1+2 by EC Carter -3.5 This story worked as a two parter because the first part is like what the fuck, this guy is terrible and then part 2 explains everything and it was so out there, I kind of liked it.

The Subjunctive by Alaya Dawn Johnson - 1 star. The worst story, it made no sense as nothing was explained at all, it was like seeing the middle of a story without a beginning and end, also it was boring.

A Cautionary Tale by Stephanie Kuehn -4.5. Definetely one of my faves of the collection. It was so interesting and a very good short thriller story.

Jackie's Story by Justina Ireland-4. Very interesting, I'm a sucker for a good criminal story.

Self-Portrait by Brandy Colbert-3.5. Couldn't connect to Sunday as a person but her story was interesting enough.

A Violation of Rule 16 by Suzanne Young-5 stars. It was such a bad ass, fuck the patrichary story. I want to know more about this girl because damm. (also would win the prize for best story).

Narrator by Shaun David Hutchinson-4.5 I loved the in-between parts of them hiking and thier reactions to the story told, it really made it feel less lke an anthology and more like a actual story. The only thing it wasn't a five, was the ending.
Spoiler I wanted to know who would win.

Overall rating was 3.6 so rounded up to four since I couldn't put it down once I got into it.

This was such a fun, cohesive anthology with such an interesting premise: a collection of teenage "delinquents" dropped into the middle of the woods and expected to work together to find their way back to camp as part of "bettering themselves."

Each character's stories are told in two parts and I found each of them really interesting, emotional, and compelling.

On a lot of levels, I admire this book as both a writer and a reader.

This is a weird one to review, I didn't looooove the plot, but I did enjoyed the short stories. Some are amazing, dark, twisted or just sad and raw. My favorites are by Marieke Nijkamp & Suzanne Young. Those are the best of the best.

Really liked this one... a bit inspired by the Canterbury Tales, but for high school students. I liked the premise and by the time I got to the end, I wished there was more! I wanted to know more about their stories and what happened next.
