I really enjoyed the last two books in this series because I felt that they went at a good pace and weren’t dragged out. However, I feel like the constant change in timeline kind of slows down the story and I just wasn’t as interested in their past storylines. I maybe would have preferred it if the past was set as part 1 one of the book and the present was part 2. However, I felt it was a good story I just wished it wasn’t paced in the way it was.

I honestly don't know how Ashley does it, but these stories she gives us, and these characters that feel like family, and this whole series she created is one of the best things I have ever read, and one of the best things to exist.
The words she puts on those pages are real, emotional, heartbreaking, but they're also beautiful and heartwarming. They grip your attention and make you forget everything around you, because in the moment you're reading her books, nothing else matters.
I couldn't wait to finally meet Jameson and Penelope and learn their story. And let me tell you, it was a whole whirlpool of emotions.
Jameson is... I have no words. He's everything. He's gentle and loving. He's genuinely so, so good and has the kindest soul and heart. He's quiet and attentive, and he's growing up in a world where his future is already planned for him, expecting to become the President of the Chaos Kings one day, and dedicating his life to his club.
And still there's so much more to him. The more I was learning of his past, the more I ached for him. My heart broke for him, and at one point I just gave up on trying to hold my tears and just let them fall.
Penelope—I love her. I just wanted to hug her and assure her that everything would be okay. That she would be safe. She would be happy. She's a fighter, and a damn strong one.
Life has been throwing challenges and difficult situations her way ever since she can remember, yet this woman never gave up and continues to fight tirelessly to escape the bad.
Jameson and Penelope meet when they're both teenagers, when Pen comes to Jameson's club with her mom, and you can tell immediately how intrigued they are by each other. Jameson is one sweet and kind boy, and he welcomed Penelope and offered his friendship. But from the very first moment Pen laid her eyes on Jameson, she knew she liked him. She wanted to be his and his only. And it hurt like hell not having her feelings reciprocated. Or were they?
Their story is written in dual POV and dual timeline, and the more glimpses we get into their past, the more it hurt. I ached for Pen, and I also ached for Jameson. Reading his POV helps you realize the why's, but it doesn't lessen the pain. Each decision made had an impact on both their lives, and when Penelope gets pregnant with her ex' kid, when there's real danger for her, Jameson makes a decision to do everything to protect her and keep her safe.
And if they have to fake a marriage to ensure Pen and her baby's safety, then so be it.
I love them so much! There's a lot to unpack between them: the past, things that weren't said, fights that weren't fought—it frustrated me at times knowing that they could've had it all if only they'd allowed themselves to voice their feelings. Because I don't think I ever wanted something so badly as seeing these two souls finally together.
And still Jameson and Penelope... they are perfect. In all the small moments, small-but-grand gestures. The attention, the physical contact, simply the <I>"I'm here for you and I won't ever leave."</I> that had my heart in mushes. The love between them is so genuine, so strong, so real. <u>So very meant to be.</u>
In-what I'm now used to-very unique and beautiful Ashley fashion, the MC business had me on freaking edge. My heart was racing and I couldn't read the words fast enough to see what happens. No comments here, read for yourself to find out, it's worth it. Trust me.
Jameson and Pen are a definition of soulmates. It took them too long to get to each other, and even though there's no way to get that lost time back, they now have their forever to get lost in each other and love one another. Them and their little family.
