Jamie & Pen. Destined to be together? Or destined to continue tearing each others hearts out?

I love a will they won’t they friends to lovers and this one really it’s at your heart strings. They both fight their feelings for so long but also continually show up for each other and show they care often. It’s like the whole book is a grey area of their relationship.

This is not like any MC romance I have read before and I ate it all up. There are moments of suspense, of intense possession, my wife, and adorable my son moments. I would highly recommend picking this up.

My one wish is that we would have gotten some more time with them in a relationship in an epilogue or in the story. Also after all the build up the action was over very fast which I go 50/50 on liking but in this case thought it would last longer!

Also it’s interconnected but I came in on this one and didn’t feel too confused. I’m sure it would be best to read in order but I like a little chaos much like our chaos kings ;)

Received as an ARC in return for my honest review.

Penelope grew up moving from club to club, until her mother moved them in with The Chaos Kings when Pen was 13 years old. It was there she met Jameson King, who goes on to become the President a few years later.

You get glimpses of their past and present, showing you all that they’ve have gone through while pining after each other for decades.

Pen is in a relationship with the clubs Vice President, and when she becomes pregnant with his child, he immediately rejects her. Jamie then steps up and promises to take care of her.

The banter in this book wasn’t as good as the others, but the spice was still spicin and the twist and turns still had me stressed.

Overall, great book with an adorable ending.

Jameson and Penelope

Jameson and Penelope met when they were younger and her and her mom moved to their club. Jamie saw her first but his best friend made the moves because she was too shy. Jamie also knew he didn’t want the MC life for her so he told Penny to leave and find her own life. Only she came back and is now with his second in command/“best friend”. Jamie’s second in command screws them all over and now no one is safe so he brings Penny, himself, and what’s left of his crew to a rival club for safety.

Reading this series in order back to back is both good and bad. I like the emotions that the characters go through and the way the author writes those, but the setup of the chapters is becoming increasingly frustrating. This book is similar to the “cliffhanger-esque” chapter endings as the first book, I didn’t notice it as much in book 2. It’s just frustrating to have a pivotal emotional moment happen and then not get to immediately see what happens because the next chapter is years before. I get that the author is trying to show the parallels between the past and present, but it leaves something to be desired every time a present day chapter ends. Maybe if the past chapters were less frequent it wouldn’t be as annoying.

Thought we were getting the baby around 40% but it was a fakeout and didn’t happen until the final 20%. Would’ve like to see it a little earlier and more about them becoming parents.

All that to say I did really enjoy this book and it probably would’ve been 4.5 stars, but at the 90% mark the mmc is trying to mend the tension that he caused and instead of prioritizing having an adult conversation he first wants to sleep with her. Seems out of character for an otherwise emotionally mature character.
