Cari Mora is a kind hearted soul who knows the definition of keeping your head down and she's a true survivor. Her instincts are 10/10.
Hans-Peter creeped me out big time. HARRIS really did a good job at writing this character. I had to stop for a second to reset my brain over how creepy, cruel and odd Hans is.
I wanted Cari to run as far away from Hans-Peter in seconds. I was scared on her behalf tbh.
I like the Ten Bells people not all of them- Don Ernesto is a b*tch and a loser. They are criminals yes but at least they are nice?
I'm sorry but even "the creature" (don't wanna name it) has its own "POV"? First time reading a book where the animal had its own POV tbh and it was bare weird.
What was that ending? I had so many questions about all the characters and what happened to them based on what was going on in the book.
If you compare this book to HARRIS' other works (Hannibal Lecter) then you will be disappointed. Reading it with zero expectations is the only way you'll really enjoy the book.

Thomase Harrise budou znát čeští čtenáři převážně jako stvořitele kontroverzního gurmána Hannibala Lectera. Tohle je jeho nová kniha, kterou vydal po třináctileté pause. A ač je to také víceméně kriminální román, tak je už mimo sérii o Hannibalovi.
— A právě to, že Thomas Harris je autorem Mlčení jehňátek mi dosti ztěžuje hodnocení knihy. Kdyby to napsal někdo jiný, asi bych hodnotil lépe ale v porovnání se staršími knihami autora je Cari Mora minimálně o jeden level níže. A i proto jsem měl cirka v polovině velké cukání Cari Moru nedočíst.
— Kriminální zápletka knihy se točí kolem obrovského tresor plného zlata v jednom podivném domě v Miami, který patřil slavnému Pablu Escobarovi. Po obsahu tohoto sejfu touží několik různých skupin organizovaného zločinu. Tresor je velmi sofistikovaně zabezpečen proti otevření a také přepravě a navíc je třeba vše utajit jak před konkurencí, tak před policií.
— Cari Mora – hlavní hrdinka knihy – pracuje jako správce tohoto domu a je to mladá žena, která je v USA ne úplně legálně a má za sebou pohnutou minulost. Jako dítě prodělala výcvik u FARC, což jsou kolumbijští levicoví teroristé. Právě vzpomínky hlavní hrdinky na toto období svého života bylo asi nejlepší část knihy. Jinak ostatní děj a postavy mne moc nezaujaly a nějak mi oproti starším knihám autora mi přišly dost ploché a tak trochu mne osudy snad všech ostatních postav mi byly dost jedno. Ne, že by v knize nebylo hodně zajímavých faktů, děj poměrně rychle neubíhal a vše nebylo celkem slušně řemeslně zvládnuté ale v porovnáním s Mlčením je to prostě slabší. Je zde i Hans-Peter Schneider – taková německá verze Hannibala, který se živí realizací úchylných snů boháčů. Jeho poslední zakázka je únos Cari Mory a následná amputace obou jejich rukou.
— Opravdu nevím, zda Cari Moru doporučit. Asi takto: pokud si chcete přečíst jen další krimi/thriller proč ne ale pokud čekáte další Mlčení jehňátek, pak na tuto knihu raději zapomeňte. Prostě to není nijak velký průšvih ale ani žádná bomba!

It’s fine, it’s readable and a simple edit would have vastly improved it but so would any attempt at nuance or engaging story telling that we know Harris is great at.

DNF. I got approximately one third through before I decided it wasn't worth finishing. The Cari Mora just felt problematic, cruel and boastful.

It seems a lot of people hated this book. I did not. It was not Hannibal Lecter, but then again, how can you really recreate that? The setting reminded me a lot of a Carl Hiaasen book, which I really enjoyed. Cari Mora is a woman living illegally in the US. She is care taker for what was one Pablo Escobar's house. Drawn by rumors of hidden gold, two groups attempt to find a hidden vault in a bloody fight for the finish. I somewhat struggled to differentiate between characters, but I really like Cari and her will to survive, as well as her backstory. I did feel like some of the character development was a little flat, but overall, it was a decent read.
