This was a cute and spicy holiday read! I love when both characters are like “I don’t believe in love” and then they fall in love

This was cute but I think I would have enjoyed this more if I read it instead of listened to it. I don't know what it was about the audiobook but something about it made this story less enjoyable for me.

This book was a delight.

I should of known a sexy Christmas story from Talia Hibbert would be nothing less. Definitely give this a read if you want something short, steamy, and sweet. Also, it’s way less cheesy than the cover/title makes it appear. ⁣

Literally agonizing because I love Talia Hibbert so much…. but the emotional beats are just not it in this one and I don’t want to keep struggling through and rolling my eyes at how ridiculous I find both of these characters.

a great holiday novella!

Novellas are hit or miss, but this one is definitely very plot heavy (not that much smut). It covers many heavy topics but still had me giggling and kicking my feet like a little girl.

Hot tattooed grumpy male hero (secretly a cinnamon roll)
Dorky, size 18 (on the bottom), black female heroine with dreads
grumpy-sunshine
mutual pining
friends with benefits
workplace romance

CW: homelessness, domestic/parental abuse (happened in the past but are retold here), intrusive thoughts

It’s not so much a Christmas book, but rather, a book that takes place during and around Christmas.
- some of the things Cash says, are totally unrealistic
- Like, who tf speaks like that in real life? No one I’ve ever met.
- Bailey goes from being perfectly normal, to a tortured soul just like Cash, just by their proximity to each other
- 73% in and they still haven’t fucked?

The first half of the book is so much better than the second half. It feels rushed, the character development is all happening behind the scenes, which is dumb bc it’s written in third person. I really didn’t like this, but I gave it 2 stars bc I really do like Talia Hibbert’s writing most of the time. It’s unfortunate that this one just so happened to fall short for me.

It was a great read and there was a great supporting cast. I really wish we could have seen more but I understand that there was constraints as it is a novella. I especially like the dynamic between John, Cash and Bailey, and had hoped that there could have been more of that in the novella. But a very good Xmas read.
