I thought this was brilliant. I adored Miel Moreland's debut and had high hopes for SLP. I thought it tackled issues honestly without the just glossing over issues unrealistically. I identified with the main character's little over-achieving heart and it made it easy to root for her as she navigated life. Miel Moreland is easily becoming an auto-buy author for me.

4.5 just because it didn’t quite have that five star feeling until about the last 25% of the book.

I usually don’t really like high school queer romance books because I feel like I can’t really relate and they make me feel like I missed out. Also when they’re heavily centered on a GSA, it’s so alien to me because our “GSA” was one in the same with the anime club.

The main character is a shining beacon for every girl that has been told they’re “too much.” (Throwback to when my lifelong best friend in high school mercilessly mocked my reaction when we won a big swim meet and then told the juniors to include the photo of said “over” reaction in my senior gift).

The last 25% of the book didn’t necessarily come out of left field, but it was pretty unexpected based on the more lighthearted themes of the earlier parts. It was definitely much more serious than a high school class President election, let’s just put it that way.

This was interesting and I enjoyed it but not as much as the previous book by this author.

I enjoyed Madison's focus and determination regarding her ambitions but felt like there wasn't enough attention/nuance to the relationships side, which makes both of the relationships she's in feel a bit shallower than I would have liked. We also fast forward over some important bits that we build up to, or important events happen off stage, so this one didn't hit quite as hard for me. Still very good and enjoyable, however.

OK, ngl, I was pretty hesitant to give this book a go. I’m pretty fed up with overachievers in queer YA fiction, and thought that Madison was going to annoy the crap out of me. Her devotion to The Plan and being super-duper organized did grate, to be sure, but it was incorporated well into the story, and I kinda let it pass in what was truly a pretty engaging novel.

Without spoiling anything, the ending has a bit of a fade out and some intense shit is not wholely resolved into a 100% HEA, but I understand why the author chose that route and it worked fine.

Haven’t read a YA book in a while and this was such a wonderful book to jump back into the genre! It feels like those teen rom-com Netflix movies and I mean that as the highest of compliments! Every character in this book reads like their ages(no euphoria syndrome here!) but it doesn’t read too young. Wonderful queer representation and being able to touch on more serious topics throughout, but in a way that can be digested by younger readers. The romance was so fun and cute and really encapsulates the teenage butterfly in stomach, innocent, crushes touching knees while watching a movie type of romance. A book that will for sure have younger  LGBTQ+ readers feeling represented in literature. The setting of school politics is one that all may not be able to connect to but it’s a fresh setting and nice to be so pro-getting kids to think politically. This book will have you cheesing, smiling, and  cheering for Madison and Victoria on their way down the campaign trail.

Something Like Possible feels like the book a lot of older queer adults probably wished they had growing up. A story of community, young love, how to show up for friends in need, queer solidarity, and standing up in the face adversity.
