Made me laugh, feel understood, and take myself less seriously while in my mid-20s.

Hilarious essays in this memoir by psychic Mindy Kaling. Seriously, if anyone thinks she isn’t a trendsetter just check out this book for all the things she predicted would happen in entertainment. And she’s funny. Her sweet, self deprecating humor is relatable and real. Oh and I remembered while I was listening to it that I saw Matt and Ben off broadway and didn’t realize that was her until just now. I do not have my finger on the pulse for sure. But she does!

4.5. Didn't love as much as I loved Modern Romance, but still a high quality listen!

Loved it! I was very close to giving this a 5 star rating, but restrained myself because I know that part of why I loved this so much was because I already love Mindy and enjoyed every minute of hearing her speak about her life. Listening to her read the audiobook was a unique pleasure since I got to literally hear the jokes as she intended them.

She mentions a few times that the expected audience for this book is youngish girls, but I definitely think that the audience for this book should be much more broad. Fans of The Office, certainly, but really anyone with an interest in Hollywood, comedy or stories of people chasing after their dreams. Mindy rarely made me laugh out loud, but I was constantly smiling because she puts her own unique spin on things that is a pleasure to hear. I also really appreciated the nice blend of her conservative upbringing and her more modern Hollywood lifestyle.

Listened to the audiobook version. Got some nice chuckles out of her stories. I would recommend Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari. I found that book more entertaining.

This was a super fun (and quick) audiobook. I'd definitely recommend it if you have a lot of driving to do!

I really enjoyed listening to this book; it's a great driving read. It's funny, and thoughtful, and Mindy Kaling's reading of it is really great.
