This is a good follow up to the Long Earth, but this just isn't my favorite of his series. It ended with possibility of another one, but I don't know that I'll care to read it. Then, again, I have a hard time saying "no" to anything he writes.

I liked this one a lot but a bit of the novelty of the first book had worn off so it wasn't quite as good, but definitely still worth a read as is the whole series.

About 1/3 into this book I lost interest. :/ This second book for me lacked the excitement and energy from the first. What made the first for me thrilling was the sense of exploration. This second one, not so much. It has its redeeming moments, which upon reflection, will compel me to finish it, but at a later time.

Kind of a mess, narratively. It's all over the place with a bunch of different storylines that didn't quite work together as a whole. Still, it's entertaining enough for me to keep reading.

The difficult second album. All I'm willing to give this is that it clears the way for the other books. Very slow paced, with a few disparate threads trying to weave a cohesive narrative. The book would have benefited from one distinct POV such as
Captain Maggie Kaufman with her airship, working against the Long Earth settlements while juggling her own sympathies
. Was interesting to see how the worlds had started to evolve beyond the damaged Datum Earth.

Not as good as the first book.

This series is very ideas focused, but also has Pratchett's fun humor and character work.
