It's a much more fun read than most books about leadership, but there's nothing revolutionary in the skills themselves.
I love Star Trek so was excited when I learned about this book. It ended up being somewhat difficult to get through due to the writing.
As a fun look at Star Trek and leadership lessons, this was a fun read. As a management book, it wasn't much more than a novelty. The writing is fine, campy in some ways and dry in others. Basically it is a synopsis of an episode with some lessons learned tacked onto the end.
I honestly picked this up as a bit of a lark- I just thought it was such a zany concept for a book. But once I got over that and dove into the book I was glad I embarked on this mission.
Business books can sometimes be a little dry and hard to get into, so this was a really fun approach to learning.

A long time ago, I read - and reviewed - MAKE IT SO for Chicago Now - http://www.chicagonow.com/one-cause-at-a-time/2016/07/nonprofit-leadership-star-trek/
Recently, a friend of mine remarked on Facebook that Jean Luc Picard was an exceptional manager, and that inspired me to reread this book...
It's still great. It's a simply understood and insightful leadership development how-to book that's worth reading.
