Thank you Kaye for an ARC of one of my highly anticipated reads! ❤

The minute I started reading this novella, it was like visiting old friends. Now fresh in college, Kim and Kyle are figuring out their futures. When certain opportunities turn up, they have to decide whether they're worth pursuing or putting on the back burner. Throw in love and we have a recipe for heartache.

It was clear Kim was forcing some things in her pursuit to appease her parents and it just made me so sad to see her constantly exhausted. But we did get the chance to see Kyle look after her. I loved that he, unprompted, took things off her plate so she had time to rest. And even more, I loved that this became a group project! Altho Kyle took the lead, Liz and Brad (their friends) pitched in to help. If you've read my review of Glad You Exist, you know I LOVE the fearsome foursome. They're all *so* different but fit together like puzzle pieces, picking up slack that the others can't handle. And together, I appreciated that they reminded Kim that she needed to reevaluate before her frayed edges completely unraveled, but never forcefully bc they understood that the decision had to come from Kim.

And Kyle, too, had to do some soul-searching of his own. I fully supported this but I also hated that it put a strain on his relationship with Kim. Goddammit, I just wanted to see our babies happy! But it did help him realize his dream and I *know* I'm a sap but tell me when you read what it is, you didn't melt into a puddle. 🫠

Now, CALLING ALL GLAD YOU EXIST READERS. Those tender moments between Liz and Brad? I couldn't. Couldn't what? Couldn't ANYTHING. Yeah, so that aforementioned puddle? Basically me the entire novella. Anyone have a mop? 😂

CN: closed-door romance, brief allusion to suicide while referencing past events

5 stars.

As it’s a novella- this one grabs you quick and gets rolling with the plot right away. I often struggle with novellas - because it’s hard to get me invested in such a short time- but Kaye’s writing is just so good that this one instantly intrigued me.
I love the way Kaye writes her characters. It’s always a heart wrenching experience but I always know she will get us in a happy, good place at the end of the day.
Alsooooo- I feel like she writes her guys to be possessive in a “you’re mine forever” type of way, and I’m honestly here for it. The commitment, the terms of endearment, the lovely moments of love but also the messy parts too. 10/10.

You absolutely must read Glad You Exist before reading this one. It’s been a long time since I last read GYE, and I was really trying to remember details to fully grasp certain call backs. I want to go back to re read GYE because I loved it and also to get ready for More Than Anyone (book 2). So I recommend reading that one first and reading this one soon after.

Releases April 28.

Thank you so much to Kaye Rockwell for providing this ARC for me to read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Sweet little novella of Kyle and Kim's story. It was fast pace but so sweet and swoony and made you feel warm and fuzzy. Honestly for a 100 page story I could easily see this story turned into a cute movie it flowed very well!

A short novella (~113 pages) that you can read in one sitting! 🤎 this *must* be read after the first book in the series and before the second. Does the romance work as a standalone? Sure, but it’s better to know the context and to read in order!

This has:
  • Second chance romance
  • Found family friends group
  • coming of age
  • starting a new business venture of an online shop
  • living on your own for the first time post-high school
  • freshman year of college woes
  • long distance relationship
  • pursuing a music career in LA

& of course a sweet & well-deserved happily for now!

I don't think y'all understand the pure joy I experienced when the author announced she'll write Kim and Kyle's story. When I first read Glad You Exist, being on the emotional rollercoaster of Liz and Brad's journey, Kim and Kyle had a way of crawling into my heart from the sidelines

I can't say much without spoilers, but Kim and Kyle...? I'll always have a soft spot for them. They complimented each other in the most supportive and sweetest way - they can do no wrong in my eyes.
And I simply loved having the OG's back together! This friendship overall is a hard one to beat, and I just know that the next book will destroy me

What you can expect from When I Met You:
• "Glad You Exist" novella
• childhood friends to lovers
• found family
• grumpy (her) x sunshine (him)
• "it will always be her"

Thank you, Kaye, for giving us more Kim and Kyle content and having their romance officially out there ♡
