I'm getting more and more curious about the other series Will Trent was born from. Once I'm done with this series, I'll have to get on that one. This is book three, and I'm continue to be impressed by the quality. Will Trent may be one of my all time favorite fictional characters now.

I enjoyed this book -- and I am enjoying this series. I thought the pacing was alright, the characters are okay, and the plot was decent.

"Who wanted to be blamed for somebody else's misery when you were knee-deep in your own?"

I was first introduced to Karin Slaughter's work in the form of Criminal, the sixth in the Will Trent series, back in 2013 (which is now a decade ago and I might throw up if I think about that too hard).

The great thing about the Will Trent series is that you don't have to read them in order. It's been a decade since I real Criminal but I wasn't at a disadvantage. Will Trent was easily explained enough for me to create an image of him in my head and I didn't feel like I was missing anything not having read the three prior books in the series.

Slaughter always keeps me hooked and does something no other crime novelist has been able to do in my 27 years on this earth; I have never been able to guess who the killer is before they are revealed. If you know me personally, you'll understand why I have such high praise for Slaughter as an author.

An invigorating reed which I highly recommend.
