4.12 AVERAGE

This is probably one of the best books I've ever read. It's crude, it's explicit, and it's so, so necessary. It takes everything about rape culture and crushes it like bricks. It brings awareness to all kinds of sexual violence--even if it's hard to read at times.

I would NOT recommend this book to anyone currently healing physically and mentally of sexual assault as it is very triggering at times. However, I think it's a book that every woman, if not every human being, needs to read.

Warnings:
Drugs: Yes
Sex: Yes
Rock & Roll: A lot of mentions of sexual assault

Kinda dark. Really cool.

This book is so angry, and has every right to be. Loved it.

4.5*

I am giving this five stars not because it is perfect but because I LOVED it.

This is a story about a feral girl with a black and white way of looking at the world. She has violence in her heart, but it is violence born of vengeance, and you kind of can't blame her. Alex Cross is now one of my favorite literary characters of all time...even though she is also terrifying.

This is also the story of a crumbling, depressed town in Ohio, of high school kids being horrible but also good to each other when it matters. It's about the never ending victimization of girls in more ways then one.

There is so much to this story! I was entranced and enthralled and enraged and scared and thrilled by the audiobook, which is excellently performed.

This isn't for everyone: it is brutal and intense and trigger warnings for just about everything: animal cruelty, sexual assault, violence.

But man. This book basically turned me inside out. In a good way.

I've always said that I would like to give every 14 year old girl a copy of Tori Amos's Little Earthquakes to get them through their teenage years. Now I want to give them Tori's album and this book. They are excellent companions.

Please everyone read this, so we can talk about it!

انقدر اتفاقات غیرواقعی پیش می‌رفتن که وقتی تمومش کردم،چک کردم که رئالیسم جادویی بوده یا نه

4 1/2 stars. Mindy McGinnis is a fantastic writer. This book was dark and suspenseful but had way more depth than most suspense novels. The characters were so complex, as were their relationships with each other. The setting was very well done, almost like a character itself. Alex, the main character (and one of the three narrators) was one of the most unique characters I’ve read about in a long time. The descriptions overall were beautiful and unique. This was so good.
