I won the book via a Goodreads Giveaway and was very excited when the book arrived in the mail. I loved the book and finished reading it within a few days. I knew nothing about Gloria's upbringing so reading that really provided a sense of where she came from and how that propelled her to be the person she would become.

Her personal stories intertwined with history/herstory made you feel like you were in the midst of everything. Gloria is truly inspirational, as well as many of the women and men she introduces us to.

I think I like a memoir that makes me reflective and tasty at the end. Maybe it was because I didn’t get much sleep last night and was feeling a little sensitive that way, but I really liked this. Steinem has a good mind for memory- or at least wrote everything down- and reading short all the people she’s met and interacted with gives great perspective on how much one person can influence in their life. Even though I am much younger, it’s an honor to be alive at the sane time as she. She is also such an example of someone who has been trying to do intersectional feminism before intersectional feminism was coffee a phrase. We could all emulate.

I learned so much from reading this book! It spans decades and covers so many activist movements, while still giving you an idea of her life. I wasn't sure f it was memoir, or historical account, or autobiography.
