I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Well this was an incredibly pulse-pounding and pleasing ending to The Long Game series. And, dare I say it, the best instalment in this trilogy. I read it in just a few sittings and it I struggled to put it down.

The gang as we know it just grow better in this book, the friendships and banter between the team really show the love they have for each other, and how big their growth has been since the start of Shattermoon. I'm sad to see their stories end because I was so, so invested in them by the time I finished this one. They make for a great heist team and I've loved watching their friendships grow over the course of the books.

The plot of Residuum is arguably the most fast-paced of the trilogy. From the get go it brings you in and page after page of action and plot and intrigue meant I flew through this in no time at all. The Departed, the planet-eating plague and a host of returning characters meant that I just wanted to know what happened next. I loved getting a new insight into the Departed and I hope one day we can read the story of their civilisations and lives!

This is a wonderfully accessible space opera for those who may be new to the genre, and it's a blast for those who read these regularly as well. This is definitely an underrated trilogy that I hope more people discover.

I'm hoping perhaps we get a spin-off series from this one because to be honest I'm not ready to let this universe go just yet.
