The artwork in this is fantastic, and I quite liked the story, too.

This is probably my favorite of all of the Dark Tower graphic novels so far. We get a little more insight into what spurred Roland and crew into their quest for the tower, and more background on the events that transpired after the ka-tet returns from Mejis.

To be completely honest, I can’t say that I’m a super fan of graphic novels. Not that I have anything against GN’s, I just don’t really have any particular passion for them, and not much experience with them either. I mean, I think the artwork in this series is good.. But it could be completely horrible and I’d have no idea at all. I don’t read these because they are graphic novels… I read them because they are another piece of the Dark Tower story, and I want all of the pieces.

So that said – don’t take my ratings of these GN’s too seriously. Four stars, sure, why not? I have nothing to compare it to, and I liked it, so that seems about right to me. But if you’re looking for a well-rounded and critical review… You’ll have to look elsewhere.

Great fun, with the characters, story development and vibe for the series. I like this "the good old days weren't always so good" sense to the story.

I liked Aileen a lot and would have enjoyed this volume more if Roland had stayed comatose. And I don't remember the entirety of Gabrielle's story but wow did they just make her even more one dimensional? That's almost impressive.

Finally, we're breaking new ground here. While the last volume of the Dark Tower comic series contained some insight into what was going on with Sheemie in the immediate aftermath of the events in Hambry, this collection really does break into some new territory with the addition of a new character, Aileen. I find the addition of a strong-willed girl into Roland's life a welcome complication, and I'm really interested in seeing where this will ultimately lead. The overall arc of the story is laid out already by the events narrated by King in DT 6, as Roland relates to his companions what he did with Maerlyn's Grapefruit upon return to Gilead, and the ultimate fate of his mother. The next volume will have to be brand new material which we haven't seen before....

Oh. And the artwork is awesome.

Treachery, Volume 3, introduces a character I have never met before in The Dark Tower Series - Cort's niece who wants to be a gunslinger. Too bad this is unheard of for girls, but she's a crackshot anyways. I wish there was more story with her in it, but still nice to see a lady.

I'm not in love with the illustrations in this series. Often time the characters look like there eyes have been cut out...which is creepy and not the point. The excellent story lines are keeping me with it (and my Dark Tower obsession).

It's a short read, but they've done it again. The Dark Tower continuation is really enjoyable. The writing is not as good as King's, but the images make up for that. I'm eager to see where they take this.
