An airplane read this morning--wonderful little book about a bookstore on wheels. And what happens to a 40ish "old maid" when she buys said bookstore. Somewhat predictable, but charming and some wonderful commentary on how books are needed in order to advance society.

Excellent novella. Engaging story, wonderful reflections on the value of a good book.

A strange but sweet little story.

I really enjoyed this fun story. It had a few gems to ponder, set in a light, uplifting story. It cheered me on a day when I was feeling discouraged and needed to think about “something else”.

Puts me in mind of 84, Charing Cross Road: charming, silly with a lot of books around the periphery. But while '84' had some truly touching moments in reality, Parnassus has some truly out of touch ones in fiction in view of modern sensibilities. Craving a reboot on the theme of a 'single woman strikes out with a bookmobile' - if anyone knows of such already published, please recommend!

I read this as part of 2015 Morley Walk put on by Melville House and Book Riot. In truth, I only "read" two chapters of the book myself. The rest of the chapters were read aloud by other people in the group as we walked through different Brooklyn neighborhoods. I can't say whether it was the story itself that made the walk so enjoyable, but I'll have fond memories of this book for quite some time.
