Un poco trampa porque es una relectura y ya sabía que me iba a gustar, pero también se que de aquí en adelante la historia mejora.
Que de tiempo sin leeros raven boys i missed you.

Adam's face melted into a grin, an expression so unlike his sual one that his features needed to completely shift to accommodate it. "So you don't do anything quiet, do you?"

The way he said it, she could tell that he was impressed with her in the way that men were usually impressed with Orla. Blue very much liked that, especially since she hadn't had to do anything other than be herself to earn it. "Nothing worth doing."

"Well," he said, "I think you'll find I do pretty much everything quiet. If you can be all right with that, I guess we'll be fine.”

i’m so sad i waited so long to start this series! i really, really enjoyed this book and cannot wait to start the next one. i was hooked from the beginning, with blue fated to kill her true love with a kiss and gansey fated
to die within a year
. I’M IN!

this is found family at its best!!! they absolutely adore one another and it shows. there are such tender moments of friendship. the tension of class difference within the group is also notable and significantly impacts some of the relationships. the characters really shine on their own and as a ensemble. some are more endearing than others (... ronan …) but they’re all pretty lovable.

Gansey looked up to them, and she saw in his face that he loved this place. His bald expression held something new: not the raw delight of finding the ley line or the sly pleasure of teasing Blue. She recognized the strange happiness that came from loving something without knowing why you did, that strange happiness that was sometimes so big that it felt like sadness. It was the way she felt when she looked at the stars.

Just like that, he was a little bit closer to the Gansey that Blue had seen in the churchyard, and she found she couldn't bear to look at him.

the mystery and mayhem is super fun and surprisingly spooky! there is a sense of adventure and discovery and unsettling possibility, all wrapped up in otherwise mundane and tragic teenage day-to-day. my favorite scenes from this book are:
gansey’s reading
and
the discovery of cabeswater and the hallucination tree
. the magic and mythology are so well woven into the story and the characters.

like like like …

Noah's chin ducked farther, his expression somehow black, his eye sockets hollowed and skull-like. Were they looking at a boy? Or something that looked like a boy?
quietly terrifying ...

the romance subplot is mild in this book, but there is so much potential (from every direction, really).

overall, loved this book! character-driven, well-written, occasionally lyrical, wonderfully magical … it made me so nostalgic for all the fantasy ya series of my teen years, while also being enjoyable to read as an adult. i am going to read the rest of the series immediately!
