The world Sarah J. Maas built in the 1st 2 instalments of ACOTAR are explored even further here while also exploring the politics of that world and what it means to be at war. The twist and turns of the plot keep you engaged and the emotions just pour over you as you read. Love, friendship, loyalty, sisterhood, betrayal - I couldn’t stop reading even though my eyes felt like coals in my head. This world disappeared and I was transported there. The best kind of book.

2025: This is my 3rd time reading this book and it just keeps getting better. 

Despite what other readers have described as the dip in place that comes in ACOWAR, I found that it was engaging in a very different way due to the details of the world and the intricate relationships. 

It is, at its core, a love story, but also of a really bad ass FMC claiming her power while finding herself and balance with her mate. It is truly a beautiful thing.

This book was finally quite good. I couldn’t put it down. There was lots of action and romance and hidden agendas. I’m just still annoyed at the writing style. Incomplete sentences. For emphasis. At least her word choice is becoming more varied.
