3.6 AVERAGE

That was surprisingly funny, I liked the „timeline“ :)

STRONG is book 4.5 in the Stage Dive series and also part of the 1001 Dark Nights ongoing collection. It stands alone so jump right in!

Martha has moved back home from New York to help out her brother, Ben, who just happens to be part of the super successful rock band: Stage Dive. She's her nephew's temporary nanny until she decides what to do next. What she doesn't need? To be distracted by the totally hot bodyguard for the band, Sam.

I'll admit that it's been awhile since I've read this series but reading Sam and Martha's story got me revved up for a re-read! As with most of the books from the 1001 Dark Nights, this one is just a taste of the yummyness that Kylie Scott graced us with in the Stage Dive series. We get a glimpse into all of the characters lives from Martha's rather stilted POV. I mean, let's face it, she's not the nicest person in the room. But it was fun to watch her mature and own up to her past mistakes while still maintaining that certain level of bad assness!

I adored Sam. I pictured him in my head as the Rock aka. Dwayne Johnson! How does an alpha male pull off serious and silly at the same time?!? But that's also what was lacking for me. I SO wish that we got some of Sam's POV. I know, I know...it's a novella, not enough room for a full arc, blah, blah, blah! (See, I can be bratty like Martha too!) :)

Overall, I really enjoyed this sexy short and I'm ready to snuggle up with the Stage Dive gang again! Told entirely from Martha's POV with a happy ending. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

oh how I missed my stage dive family!! this novella just warmed my heart and put me in the happiest mood. martha became such an interesting character since Deep and I've grown to love her with all my heart, her relationship with Sam was beautiful! as a Ben and Lizzy stan, I want to thank Kylie from the bottom of my heart, I LOVED seeing my parents again and sweet Gibson as well.
I'm immensely happy after finishing this because of the girls moments and the band being together and playing with each other, I'm not ready to say goodbye to this family, but I'm so so grateful for this long ride.

2.5/5

who would’ve thought i’d enjoy a book about martha? not me! & it was so fun to catch up with everyone else, especially the kids!!!

Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

Like most of the novellas this seemed rushed. It is not easy to make a terrible person into a loveable
charactert in just 120 pages when it the course of 4 previous books she was portrayed as a real class A bitch and I'm sad to say the author didn't manage to convince me Martha is a lovable character. As much as Ms. Scott tried to redeem her here, it just didn’t work for me. And the romance itself is pretty undercooked too- basically "Hey I've liked you for years. "Me too." "Let's fuck."
Anyway, nothing really stood out about this one either way, I didn't love it but I didn't hate it either.

My Review: I'm sure I'm not the first to say that man, I super hated Martha throughout the series. But we were supposed to! So I was nervous when I heard she was getting her own story. I know Kylie Scott can make me love anything though, so I was more than ready to see how she could pull this off... and she did! Plus, I really wanted to see Sam get a happy ending, he deserved this.

So, I'm going to consider this a slow burn romance, but really only on Sam's part. He knew a decade ago that Martha was what he wanted, and man, was he patient. And there's just something so hot about a man who knows what he wants, is willing to wait until the right moment to make his move, and has a plan in place. And plan, indeed! Not that Martha was going to let herself be managed. But these two played well off each other. Martha needed someone to push back, and Sam knows to pick his battles.

Cover Lovin': 1001 Dark Nights Classic

Recommendation: Can be read as a stand-alone, but I highly recommend the series because it is one of my all-time favorites!

Final Rating: FOUR out of FIVE stars (4/5)!! I love a redemption story, and a slow burn - best of both worlds.
