One of the best books I have ever read. Just a genuinely amazing story.

Good example of time travel gone awry. I was entertained.

I think this is my new fav King book! It dragged a little but really enjoyed.

I don’t read horror, so I haven’t read a lot of Stephen King books (this is only my second), but this one makes me want to read more. I recently read a comment from him that this is the book he would suggest for anyone who has never read his books. I already had it on my list, but it made me finally start reading it. I love time travel and historical fiction, but this had its own special kind of flare.

This was a really good story. The thing that makes me love this book is also the thing that made me give it four stars instead of five. It’s just so long. That said, it’s so long because he does an incredible job of making you care about the minute details he crafts that really don’t have any impact on the story. Normally I detest this about an author because they don’t make it interesting, but he fills his book with these extra details and makes you enjoy them. I’m really in awe of how he comes up with everything that he includes in his stories. He paints such a detailed picture of his scenes. It’s really just incredible.

I’m not a fan of his romance sections; they are kind of crude. I’m not really bothered by it too much though because he’s not a romance author. I briefly wondered how much better it would have been, however, if he would have teamed up with a historical fiction romance author to help with those parts. It might have been great, but it also might have softened a story that didn’t need to be softened.

Without any spoilers, I didn’t like the section where the main character goes back home after years away, but I really liked the rest of the book. Stephen King took a historic event and reimagined what might have been and whether it should have been. I might have written the ending a little differently, but I read romance often, so that would account for my wish for a different ending. His gives us something a little unexpected.

Great story, but now I’m wondering if this is his best and if I should read anything else by him. This one was much better than Under The Dome, which I also enjoyed. If you haven’t read this one, go get it now. It takes a little while to get through it, but it’s very interesting and very well written.

I don’t know why I thought this would take me forever to get through. Stephen King has that wild ability to suck you right into a story and make you deeply invested in the characters. It was a genre fusion as per his usual, and while the pacing kept me hooked, I was left with a few lingering questions. What really happened to Al, and why exactly did this quest have to start in the first place?

I really loved the characters and the premise! The only issues are that, it just felt like it was slower than it should be at quite a few points. The ending also felt somewhat uncertain.
