Ummmm. Hmmmm. So I did enjoy this, but I was a little disappointed, it touched a little bit on some good topics but didn't really do much with them. There was a ghost aspect that I really liked but outside of that things were pretty boring. What happened was kinda interesting but I just wish it did more. It had potential to be a lot better. It was still good but I just wanted more.

This is not a typical thriller/horror, but I enjoyed it. But you should probably read and watch The Shining first.

I liked this book!! It definitely felt like a litfic thriller. The plot was engaging and the ending wasn’t predictable. The storytelling of Kari’s visions was done so well; the meshing of urban native experience with Apache and Chicasaw storytelling was fresh and communicated with finesse.

My only critique would be the diction of the novel. It read like YA at parts which took me out of the story at times. However, overall the storytelling arc and character development was superb.
