Bunch of crap. It has all the weary clichés you can imagine (the heavy gambler, with a heavy debt, the mob boss, the sadistic murderous inforcer, the rich man reigning like a godfather over his city, the cold scheming femme fatale, etc). And the supernatural part is a COMPLETE rip-off of Stephen King. Fast read, waste of time.

I didn’t read all 4 just The Taking of Annie Thorne but couldn’t find that on here as an individual book.
This had all the components of a good thriller. Narrator was slightly unreliable but his wit and dry humour made him likeable despite his flaws.
I did want to find out what happened to Annie, and what was up with the town in general.
I guessed some of the revelations about one of the characters, but there were two twists and I didn’t get the 2nd one.
But despite having all these good components I just wasn’t on the edge of my seat. Maybe it was the supernatural stuff and that it was just all too vague.
I can’t put my finger on it, I felt like I should have been gripped…but I wasn’t! I’d read another by the same author though.

Spoiler alert. The book was well written. Similar to Stephen King’s , Pet Cemetery.

A little too far fetched for me. If found it a little repetitive and suggesting body snatching/ recantation which is a little too out there for me. I did find some elements surprising. Would probably not recommend to others to read but wasn’t a bad book.

This book was dark and gritty with twists I never saw coming! I didn't want to put it down.
