A very pleasant and enjoyable read. It's probably not something I'd wish to revisit over and over again, hence the docking of 1 and 1/4 stars, but I did like it and would recommend for anyone looking for a palette cleanser between longer, deeper, darker fantasy series.
Moderate: Fire/Fire injury
Minor: Cursing

A wonderful introduction to cosy fantasy, this book explores Viv and her journey to set up a cafe with lots of fun characters (Thimble being a personal favourite) and lots of cosy descriptions. Wonderful escapism.
My one critique was the epilogue, I didn't think it was needed and if so, I think it could have focused on other characters; I wasn't very fussed about who it discusses and it jarred me out of the bubble of the ending. This is why it was not a 5 star read, but it was damn close as it is just so lovely.
Not necessarily a moving or intellectual read, but a good book to read/listen to when you want some small cosy joy in your life.

But after the first few chapters, holy hell. I couldn’t stop reading. It didn’t even feel like reading. The story flows so smoothly, it’s immersive, cozy, relatable, heart-warming, and has its gut-wrenching bits. The author’s language was sometimes hard for me to follow as I am not a native English speaker, but it’s beautiful nonetheless. Also the book definitely made me go on trips to bakeries & cafes more often.

only took me two days to read and I was almost sad that it finished.
I really liked most of the characters.
Graphic: Fire/Fire injury
Minor: Injury/Injury detail, Cursing, Stalking, Murder, and Sexual harassment
fire/fire injury: a house burns down but gets rebuilt, at least two characters and a cat get injured but they are all well again in the end. cursing: several times injury: two characters get burn injuries murder: a monster is killed in the beginning. the villain is implied to get killed in the end, killing is mentioned once or twice stalking and sexual harassment: a character shows up near another character several times, despite her being uncomfortable with it and he harasses her verbally. It is implied that they have a past but no details. He gets stopped later.
