Grab a latte and a cinnamon roll and curl up with this cozy story of an ogre making a new life for herself by opening a cafe and introducing people to coffee. The descriptions of coffee and food items are so scrumptious, you'll definitely want something sweet on hand! The character development is so fun to watch; the respect and care the main characters have for each other throughout the book is inspiring. I love the message in this story- having a good community is good fortune and more valuable than gold. This is definitely a cozy read with a touch of slow burn romance (no spice).

i enjoyed this. it was an easy read. as the tag-line described it was low-stakes but i still devoured it in 24 hours. fun fantasy world with all sorts of characters, my favourite of which was durias; he was mysterious in a subtlety comical way. i loved the side characters, and i would have read it even sooner if i’d known the story was lgbtq+!!

Oh this was good! A fantasy read cozy enough for winter, but still captivating enough to keep the readers entertained.

My only complaint is that we didn’t get more of Viv and Tandri’s relationship. I wanna know what happens between them after the end!!

It’s just really, really nice, and I can’t wait to pick up another book by this author.

I found this book out of the blue. I had never hear about it but thought that it sounded interesting with a orc starting a coffe shop!

It was nice to listen to, I liked it but I still had some problems with knowing where I was in the book and what exactly happened. I think I would like to read the next book where she opened a book store!

I loved this! It was so sweet and cozy and light-hearted. I was in the feels the whole time.

I love Tandri. She’s fierce and adorable and loveable. I loved the journey through learning about coffee. As they added more items to the menu and enjoyed more items it was adorable to see. The romance was subtle but very adorable. Viv was someone who was so passionate and persistent you couldn’t help but root for her.

Definitely a low stakes book to read when you want to feel cozy and reminded of the power of friendship (corny I know but so true). Absolutely loved.

I cried with and for the characters. A lovely cozy story outside of my usual reads. The premise drew me in, but it was the characters that kept me. The ending tied loose ends a little too nicely for my taste, but I think that's more on the cozy low-stakes vibe the story has than any fault of the writing.

For lovers of cozy fantasy, this one absolutely defines the genre, but takes it one step further by saying you are what you make of yourself and your circumstances.

After a slightly surprising beginning, Baldree tackles hard subjects like racism, reinvention, and restarting after loss, but in the most lighthearted, cozy, soft way that the whole book feels like spending time in a liminal space. That magical moment when life isn’t entirely real stepping into a coffee shop on the weekend, but anything is possible because there aren’t any expectations.

The characters are gorgeous in their own ways, and come together beautifully as a ragtag team that works. I am biased: Thimble is absolutely my favorite and I want to hug him so badly. He’s a literal cinnamon roll, and the description of his makes me want to try them and bake from scratch myself.

Motivations were realistic, the book was so sweet and so easy to submerge yourself in.
