Ugh! Someone should bury this book along with the dead.... Maybe I just don't like the "whodunnit" mystery style. By 1/3 through the book, I quite didn't care who the murderer was. The addition of a famous historical character to the plot seemed cheap and unnecessary.

This series continues to be a blast as we deal with the missing heads of both monarchs and murder victims, parenthood, parentage, economics, and revenge. There is actually so much going on in this one that I'm so impressed that it flows together

This is my favorite series of books which I always look forward to reading when they come out. I liked the mystery of the story, which all the Sebastian mysteries involve an intricate web of possible villians, but mainly I read these books for the characters. Almost all of the main characters are mentioned in all previous books of the series, and its it's always nice to see what they are up to now.

Sebastian, Viscount Devlin, is happy to have his wife, Hero, and son, Simon, safe. hero's delivery was difficult and Simon is a colicky baby. Sebastian is called out to a murder where the head has been removed. The victim is a collector of oddities, including the head of Oliver Cromwell. Is this related to how he was killed. More murders occur and Sebastian comes face-to-face with his nemesis from the Peninsular War. Who will emerge a winner?

The wife of the main character spends a little too much time being his sounding board rather than an actual character. The mystery was ok, but the only black woman came in at the very end and was just a plot device.

I am so happy this fine Regency mystery series continues to produce first rate reading. One of the great fears suffered by dedicated readers is that a beloved series will run out of steam. We've seen it happen before. Sadly, it's all too common.

But fans of Sebastian St. Cyr, Hero, and all the wonderful secondary characters can rest easy. Who Buries The Dead is an excellent continuation into the story of Viscount Devlin's unpleasant hobby, investigating strange murders and related mysteries. Sebastian's life is complicated now by the addition of a wife and son, "hostages to fortune". He can't hurl himself headlong into danger without thinking of them as well, and that can hamper his detecting methods.

Nonetheless, it's a cracking good story with lots of twists and turns and surprises. I recommend readers start with the first book and read them in order to get the full flavor of the series and an appreciation for C.S. Harris's writing.

I still can't believe I was so engrossed in the final chapters I missed my train stop. Ended up one town over and didn't even guess the murderer.
