Very interesting read as Tyson looks at how his and other cultures approach life differently to Western cultures.

At times confronting to read, this thought provoking book challenges us to not only rethink the way we live, work, teach and learn, but to also unlearn some of what we’ve been taught. The provocation to respect, connect, reflect and direct - in that order- is something I would like to take forward with me.

You won’t agree with everything in this book. But I think that that is the point. This is a challenging book. It is challenging because in order to get anything from it, it forces you to put aside your narcissism and worldview and be willing to really listen to a different one. When you do that it challenges you to look at how you see the world and think about it. You might not finish this book and agree with every part. You might not even change your views. But you will have examined those views and understand them and yourself better.

Sassy, insightful, and necessary. Yunkapaorta had me hooked after his "lunatic, incendiary rant" on Prussia. At a time when the impacts of a narcissistic global system of power are hard to ignore, being welcomed into an Indigenous way of thinking felt like a breath of fresh air. "When you're laughing, you're learning". I'm going to be reflecting on the ideas from this book for some time.

A wonderful and thought-provoking book about using Indigenous Knowledge for global sustainability. Anybody who enjoyed Braiding Sweetgrass is bound to enjoy and learn from this as well, and there’s no need to be Australian for the ideas to be relevant.
