An excellent book showing what doctors go through in school and in practice.  Like most of Erich Segal's books, this one also deals with various social problems, especially medical ones.  It has a very good story line.  It keeps you interested and makes you think.

I have a weakness for old medically themed books; love reading about training for and working in medicine and how it compares to my experiences. Not this one though. Segal had a hit with Love Story, made into a famously weepy film, and must have decided after that that he was too good for an editor. 600+ pages of turgid melodrama! Do not recommend.

Erich Segal รจ proprio bravo a raccontare questo tipo di storia, con una narrazione corale, personaggi ben definiti e storie sempre coinvolgenti (senza scadere mai nel dramma forzato).
Lettura da intrattenimento con i fiocchi.

Pretty good read, but I feel like I should've gotten more out of it. It's very well done, and I really liked the story, the characters, and the pacing, but it didn't blow me away or anything.

For an almost 700-page book, it does a really good job of keeping you engaged. There's so much to learn about these characters and their histories. The content is very meaty, and it rarely wastes your time. It really is a page-turner, and I had a pretty good time with this. Reading this book was worth it for me, although I'm not sure if I'd recommend this book to others, given how long it is. It doesn't hit that "omg dude you've GOT to read this" box, but it was good.
