Unfortunately I didn't like this book - it was just too surreal for me and too heavy-handed on the whimsy. I couldn't finish it!

A funny book where you never know what will happen next. I enjoyed the narrative style a lot; it reminded me of Terry Pratchett in some ways, which was nice. Allan’s character is completely unique in a very endearing way, even if his moral choices are slightly dubious. The way the current timeline is interwoven with Allan’s past is very clever and culminates in a very satisfying ending. The only thing stopping it from being 5 stars is some of the historical and political context is a little too dense at times and is a bit at odds with the absurdity of the novel. Would definitely recommend!

A ridiculous romp, which gets better once you suspend disbelief and just go along with the absurdity. All’s well that ends well though.

Not as funny as “Everyone in my family has Killed Someone” like someone who recommended this said.
Way too Forrest Gump-like.
Humorous, chuckleable.

Loved it! It was silly but totally fun. Funny. I loved the historical connections. It's kind of like Forrest Gump (the book, not the movie).

It was just what I wanted. Highly recommend.
