This is SO GOOD! I loved Riv and Lauren. This is my first book by this author, and I'm so impressed. I can't wait to read more.

This is an alien romance that is on the darker side. Riv has a lot of trauma from his past (trigger warnings for child physical and sexu@l abuse) that makes him a loner and a grump toward the heroine. There is a language barrier and emotional barrier that makes everything a slow burn, but the relationship between the two characters grows over time so well.

Be aware that the heroine is also kidnapped, confined, mistreated, and threatened with sexu@l slavery, but know that she is not assaulted at any point in the book.

Despite all the dark topics, it is a surprisingly sweet read. Most of the book takes place on his animal sanctuary with the two characters taking care of alien animals.

There is a happily ever after at the end.
