The age gap just couldn’t make sense to me it felt grimy. Atlas felt like an immature child trying to be grown.  Rowdy was an almost 40 year old immature unchecked man that couldn’t grow up. Everything about this book screamed put it down. Tried to like the book…

So..I dont even know where to start. Im still confused, shocked, appalled…all of that. This is a “you wouldn’t believe me if I told you, so you have to read it to find out” book. Now I have to take a deep dive through B.B. catalogue because I am craving more

I’m giving this book 4 stars, somewhat reluctantly. There were parts of this book that I really enjoyed, like the paternity cliffhanger and the mystery surrounding the identity of Unrequited; those parts I really enjoyed. But there were other parts in this book where I was just like… no.

For clarity, I usually don’t have a problem with most age gaps romances. I think they can work under the right circumstances. But Rowdy was literally a 35/36 year old man dating a teenager. Whether Atlas was of legal age or not, this grown man persued someone who was only a year or two removed from high school. He was old enough to be her father. That is very problematic.

And while I love a good, unhinged MMC, Rowdy kidnapped Atlas, he manipulated her into moving in with him, and he even shot at her. Literally lifted his gun and shot at her. There was nothing morally gray about Rowdy. He was just a psychopath.

Then the author went out of her way to make it seem as if, because Joren was a bad husband, that somehow gave Rowdy the justification to sleep with the man’s wife… Joren was Rowdy’s literal best friend and he slept with his wife for twenty years. Towards the end of the book, Atlas had an inner monologue about how Joren told Rowdy to break up with her… but this was never a thing on paper. Joren just didn’t click with Atlas. But again, that makes him the bad guy? I think not.

And speaking of Jada, you mean to tell me that she’s Atlas’ biological mother, Rowdy has been sleeping with her for twenty years, but now, he’s sleeping with and having children with her daughter? Not only that, but Rowdy could have very well been Atlas’ father, but they were still sleeping together and were both contemplating would they still be together, pending the results of their DNA test. I mean…

But again, I’m giving this 4-stars because the cliffhangers and the overall drama, barring the fact that these characters are all mentally and morally unwell.
