This book don’t owe me nothing!!! B.B. Reid you did this !!!
So first I want to say I’m a slow reader lol and when I see a book longer than 250 pages I instantly get weary lol cause what do you need to say that require that many pages lol.
But Baby!!! This books was soooooooo good and kept me captivated…

This is my first B.B. Reid book and she did NOT disappoint
This book, sent to Idlewild by a mysterious letter Atlas finds a lot more than she bargained for.But will a secret from a past not even hers destroy her new found love and life?I can't begin to describe just how amazing this book is.But go read it!
“Terrifically Twisted”
Yo! Hands down, book of the year so far for me!
Y’all wanna get your panties in a bunch? In the Gray will do it for you!
I have never been more conflicted about my love for a fictional main character than I am with Rowdy Wray. I literally hate to love him! He is just too much!
First thing’s first: read the content warnings. Talk about trigger happy…
And Lord have mercy, this one took me on a deliciously taboo ride. The crux of the storyline lies in the age gap between Rowdy and Atlas. Honestly though, you don’t even notice it. Atlas seems a bit mature for her age and I don’t think Rowdy ever matured! The chemistry between them is off the charts and they are seriously perfect for each other. As many screws as Rowdy has loose, Atlas isn’t working with a full toolbox either. Y’all…when she did ‘the thing’ and said “And then I went,” I LEGIT LOST IT! (Read the damn book so you can lose it with me). Not gonna lie, had to reread that part twice. I think I was in shock. Or awe. Not sure which one.
I am a newbie to Ms. Reid’s writing but she killed me dead with this book. I got the full spectrum of feels from this bad boy! We have a young woman who is grieving and on a blind mission of self discovery and a volatile, grown ass man who is always packing heat, whoopin’ ass, and making that money. The suspense and the mystery are also shining stars of ITG! I’m sorry I’m all over the place with this review…it’s Ms. Reid’s fault! I’m still recovering from this book! Go get it! It’s a must read!

Entering this book with no prior knowledge, except that it was a dark romance, I was drawn in by the author's North Carolina roots and the captivating cover. Little did I know, the last 75 pages would take me on a thrilling, unexpected journey, leaving me in awe.
Picture me reading, thinking this isn't as dark as I thought. In bewilderment, I hit the last 75 pages and struggled to pick my mouth off the floor. Full transparency: after the last 75 pages, the age gap trope was the last thing on my mind. So much was missing from my bingo card of what was to happen.
It was a challenge to determine who was the younger one, Atlas or Rowdy. Atlas, with her sharp wit and refusal to be underestimated, was a force to be reckoned with. She set her own rules, demanding respect and challenging Rowdy at every opportunity. Her character was a refreshing testament to strength and independence while struggling with grief and heartbreak.
The only thing about the book is that the author tried to wrap up too much towards the end, so some things felt unfinished, especially Atlas and Joren's relationship.

4.75 🌟 “Love doesn't always appear in black and white. It gets messy, it gets gray, and sometimes it will even make you abandon your morals completely. I hope we're all lucky enough to find someone we're willing to let the world burn for.”
So it was the epilogue and the author's note that did it for me!!!!! It pushed this already amazing read over the top and made me love it THAT much more, even after I spoiled some of the plot for myself, because the execution of a certain trope was done so f**king GOODT and there was still more to the plot twist that I did NOT see coming! And I have never read this particular trope that caused so much uproar in the reviews, but B.B. Reid has no complaints from me about it; this was enemies to lovers, age gap, urban/dark romance done all the way RIGHT imo and I loved it from beginning to end!!!
And I did not expect to fall in love with Rowdy the way I did, but he grew on me and he is definitely in my top 5 book boyfriends because I wouldn't mind being in Atlas' position in my next lifetime tbh, (yup!) even with all the unhinged, morally questioning, toxic ways their love story unfolded. I wouldn't have it any other way because watching Atlas slowly change Rowdy into a better man while he still kept that touch her and die, stand on business, big d*ck energy was everything!!! Ah, I am really in here gushing over this book, and I have no shame about it because iykyk! Atlas was also such a strong MFC, even through her trauma and brokenness, that matched Rowdy's energy and I loved every interaction between them from the toxic to the spicy and everything in between. Atlas was always ever the only woman for Rowdy!
Wouldn't mind if B.B. Reid explored Roc and Demi's story more because that was a subplot that didn't get as much attention as I felt it could have... Maybe a spin-off, so I can get more Atlas and Rowdy? 🤞🏾 Also why didn't we get at least one chapter from the POV of Golden because I have a feeling her always knew more than he expressed, and that could have made the plot that much more suspenseful. Also also Unrequited and Jada were both irredeemably, unlikeable, sh*tty characters and I was giving a standing ovation when they got exactly what they deserved! Also also ALSO not the golden shower treatment during that threesome scene that was so heavily anticipated early-on in the story, my mouth was wide open reading that one; I mean speechless!
This was my first B.B. Reid read, and if my review thus far hasn't confirmed it already, please make no mistake... I AM A REIDER NOW BABY!!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Expect more B.B. Reid reviews sooner than later because I need more of this kind of energy like yesterday and I'm already missing Rowdy tbh!

At first, I was a little hesitant to dive in, but when I finally got to the heart of the plot, the surprising turn completely caught me off guard. Among all the books I've read, this twist stands out as the most remarkable. I've been captivated by every character, particularly Owen from "The King's Men." Nevertheless, "Golden" has sparked my interest, and I'm excited to delve deeper into it.
Caution Rollercoaster Ride
This was one hella of a roller coaster ride!! I could not put this book down. Atlas and Owen are too much but it’s hard not to love them and root for them. Must Read you are in for the ride of your life.
