I don't really know what's holding me back from giving this a full 5 stars but there is some little thing missing...whatever it is doesn't mean much though. The second book was just as good as the first. Some of the twists were predictable but then there were several that weren't.

And Zephra....! Looking forward to book 3!

A fairly standard continuation. The protagonist(s) join forces to fight the bad guys from Incendin. There are a few twists, but experienced Fantasy readers will spot them a mile away.
I still enjoy the quick pace and simpleness of the plot, though, the lack of insight and understanding from Tan is somewhat annoying.

Book 2 is a quicker read than book 1. I have a lot of lingering questions and am ready to dive into book 3. There was plenty of action, elemental magic, and a bit of love. I would love a bit more incite into why the baddies have gone bad.

My favorite part of this series is watching Tan grow into his skills and learn to trust his instincts.
