This may be the most boring book that has ever been written. Good lord, I wish I was capable of not finishing books cause I would have given up on this book 2 chapters in

Liyah and Daniel go way back to when he was a dick to her at middle school summer camp. So when they end up in the same city as adults and get assigned to work together on a project, it’s awkward at first until it isn’t. Then it’s awkward how much they love each other and refuse to admit it despite now being friends with generous benefits.

Liked
* Diversity rep in this book is bangin. The two main characters are Jews of color, the bestie is a nonbinary queer person, lots of respect for the Other in this book
* Neen is the best part of the book

Disliked
* Narrative pacing was off, character build was slow, just really struggled to get into this one
* The characters childhood timelines didn’t match up with the pop culture references. Eg kids born in the late 90s likely wouldn’t hang their childhoods on Clueless and 10 Things I Hate About You. Those are millennial picks. I mean we don’t get a year when the book is set but it seemed like it was present day.

Tropes deployed: second chance romance, childhood friends to enemies to lovers, workplace romance, forced proximity sorta, lil found family

Characters were well developed and interesting, plot a touch predictable, like the club and meeting minutes!

All the stars above for Daniel only. I cannot believe I walked away from a romance book to root for the GUY, this is sickening.
