A great follow up to book one with a good mix of old and new characters.
There's dark and chilling secrets aplenty to keep you guessing until the end.
I enjoyed reading this as part of the indie visible tour and look forward to also reading the third in the series.

This book. I don't think I even have the words! It had me captivated entirely through the whole story. It started out as a a cliffhanger. It was just "calling" you to come back for more. (If you have read the book, you'll get the reference.) I went into this book blind, the only thing I knew was the title and the cover! I can honestly say that it wasn't what I was expecting, but on the other hand, I don't know what I was expecting! This is actually the second book in a series of 3, but the way it was written, it can be read as a standalone. Starting out some things just didn't make sense, but it was explained later on. I was pleased. I actually ending up getting my hands on the other 2 books in the series before I finished this one! The Creature, The Fear, The Bad Man; it was intriguing.

This is a really good sequel to The Darkness Within Ourselves, and it was even more interesting to learn that it wasn't initially a planned series. This is billed as being able to read as a standalone, and while I agree with that assessment, as there's enough information/detail provided in this one to explain the events of the first book, I would highly recommend reading them in order, as a) TDWO is a great book, and b) you'll get so much more out of this book if you've already read the first one.

I love the mix of characters from the first book and new characters who are introduced in this one, and the blending of stories is done really well. I did NOT see that ending coming at all, which is always a good surprise, and I'm so excited to see what book 3 has in store!

Oh stop you can't leave the book on a cliffhanger like that. I will now have to wait till February next year for the final part in this series.

Wow just wow this book was brilliant, I'm a huge fan of Jessica's work and this book was right up there with all the others I've read.

It's been a while since I last enjoyed a psychological thriller with a little horror twist, but I really enjoyed reading The Darkness That Binds Us.

Since I hadn't read the first book I didn't quite know if it would be a good idea to jump in the middle of everything, but after reading it I figured it was, because there was so much more to unravel without knowing what had happened before.

I liked the multiple POVs and the writing style. The little bits and pieces of backround information about the MC's as well as the previous events within the story kept me intrigued. The story got a tight grip on me from the beginning and didn't let go even in the end.

I think I need to go back to the beginning now and read the first book. And I will definitely read the third one when it comes out!

This book follows on from the previous instalment in the series, The Darkness Within Ourselves, where Emma Smithson and her family have moved to Cherry Hollow to start over from a tragic accident. But the past eventually catches up to them and the remaining members of the fated five…

Although I have not read the first book in the series, I don’t feel like you need to as enough story from the previous story is interwoven throughout so you know enough about what’s previously happened. The book did start off a bit slow as we’re introduced to the characters and learn more about Cherry Hollow and its deadly secrets but I think it sets the scene perfectly as we’re provided with necessary background information.

Normally I’m not the biggest fan of books with multiple POVs but I really liked how they’re interconnected and helped to progress the story. I also liked the range of characters that we were introduced to as they all had such different personalities, which were interesting to uncover. One of my favourite things about this book was how the characters developed throughout the story.

I really loved the ending and how it tied everything up. It was a cliffhanger, which I’m not the biggest fan of but i know there’s a third and final book, which I am very excited for and cannot wait to see what happens next!
