A quick and fun read! Finished in one evening and had a good time. Love the New Orleans setting and the focus on the science of forensic pathology, which is a nice change from the usual crime novel. My only hang up is that we didn’t get to know the characters in a way that truly makes us care. Maybe in the sequel?

This book was a trip. I loved the pov we got from both sides. You’re getting to see how they both operate. Jeremy was a dang fool. I know i shouldn’t have laughed but i just couldn’t believe it. The voice actor did a good job with this character. I liked the wren’s part but i couldn’t wait to get back to the butcher’s part. He was so entertaining and for sure crazy.

Now the way my face was so confused and taken aback when chapter 26 started. Yea that was a nice twist. However, the way the book ended had me even more confused lol. It happened so quick i had to rewind to make sure i didn’t miss anything. Quick cool audio to pass time.

I knew anything Alaina wrote would be amazzzzzzing and of course it was. It was so detailed and thought through. Her vast knowledge as an autopsy tech came into horrifying play when she gave some graphic and scientifically accurate details
