I used to worry about fitting in until I realized the reason I didn't fit in was because I didn't want to.

This book is a good companion for when you're feeling low or you need words of wisdom (some are deep, some light).

I took my time with this one, only reading when I felt like I needed to, not rushing it. A bit every day or every couple of days.

It's simple writing, warm and thoughtful messages that can make the reader feel better if read at the right time.

Rating:

The looseness and messiness of this book was refreshing. The fact that Matt Haig prepared you for it made his book more accessible and carefree, which is something that a reader needs from time to time. It doesn't have to be all serious or pretentious. Sometimes reading can be comforting and relaxing if the book allows it.

I'll make this a quick reaction/review. Matt Haig's "The Comfort Book" is a light and fluffy work of Haig's personal notes and random thoughts on various things, from favorite movies to life advice. One gets a sense that Haig is very introspective and has a curiosity of living that is optimistic yet also realistic.

Sure, the book comes across as a bunch of disconnected ramblings and perhaps anybody could publish this type of book if they wanted to. I'm sure some people will be quick to point out that the only reason why this book was published to begin with was because Matt Haig is the one writing it, otherwise, a nobody would probably not be able to put this out. These points are valid, and I don't deny that this isn't Haig's most challenging or artistic work.

I just choose to take the book for what it is and I don't try to compare it to his other works or people like him because he's not trying to write great art or great nonfiction. This is purely for himself and if people happen to relate to his random thoughts, it's all the better.

Also, I agree with him: Ferris Bueller's Day Off is quite the good movie. Haig certainly has good taste.

instead of buying this book, search "self help" on tumblr. i swear it's the same thing

It was alright.

I trust anybody that likes Space Cowboy by Kacey Musgraves.
emotional inspiring

This book was nice, I think it did it's job and achieved comfort. I also found it had quite a few clichés, but not sure what I expected given the genre. I liked some excerpts, shrugged at others.
