I expected smut, and got a sweet modern romance that was also a paean to chosen family and to the value of even the worst experiences in making us the people we become. Nothing deep, pure junk food, but really satisfying. This is self-published so I overlooked the fact that one time they fished Willow out of the East River, and the other time out of the Hudson and that "bye-week" references were in there as "bi-week." There were a few other editing fails, but nothing that destroyed the fun.
I would have given a higher rating but the audio version used the same VoiceOver for both the heroine and another love triangle character.
I found this weird snd confusing but it was interesting enough to keep me reading till the end.

3.5

*2.5 Stars*
It had a lot of potential, but it lacked plot development in some areas. It wasn't bad, and it was a relatively fast read, but I was looking for more in several areas.
I liked Delilah and Brody, but it would have been nice to see them grow more as a couple. The epilogue helped with that, but I wish there was more during the actual story. I also would've liked more involving the supporting characters. The ones in the book were great, but they didn't really seem like part of the story. I also found Willows POVs in the last half unnecessary. Sure, I sympathized with her a bit, but hearing POV didn't make me feel like she deserved a second shot with Brody. I just found myself waiting for her chapters to be over.
However, there were still parts of the book I enjoyed like Marlene, Indie, Grouper and Brody, but when I finished I still found myself looking for more. It was as if the story wasn't over yet, or my book had missing pages.

The beginning somewhat put me off, but then the attitude of the male character turned more acceptable.
Nice narration also helped

To start off I'll just say that I have always been a bit apprehensive when reading stories about sports, not sure why, but in my last few reads they weren't that great and had a lacking quality to it, but this one was great. It had the right amount of alpha ass and romantic lover when it came to Brody. Delilah, oh sweet Delilah, I loved her character, soft and strong at the same time, she wasn't a jerk, she wasn't mean when she could have been, she was trusting but with a backbone, and that is exactly what I love seeing in the female characters. Willow..I kinda hated her but at the same time wished her well, understood where she was coming from, and even though I hated when she was introduced, it made the story all the better. Vi Keeland did an amazing job writing this story and giving us a trip worth taking. I cried and laughed and worried my head off through out this whole story. I highly recommend this book for all to read and will definitely be rereading this one since it's jumped into my top favorites. Thanks Vi for making such a great story!
This book surprised me. Way better than I expected.
Vi does a wonderful job creating enough tension and drama to keep you hanging on.
