I rated this book a 6 out of 10. This is definitely what I call a "bridge book" in the series. The author know where we started and where we want to be, but needs a book to bridge them together. I'm not saying filler, because there is actual content and important information; this book seems to exist to give the reader enough information to set up for the third book.

The pacing of this book is exactly like the previous in this series. Each chapter keeps pulling the reader to read "just one more chapter" by tagging an OMG-moment at the end.

Dashner does a really good job of painting a picture in your mind about the settings. Everything he describes is detailed enough to create the same image he has.

I love the fact that Michael isn't always the hero. He is definitely the main character, but Sarah and Bryson get their chances to shine as well. I was worried it would be similar to Harry Potter movies where Harry is practically the only one worth a lick (besides Hermionie) and everyone else is there for the ride. It seemed like it in the first book, but I like how Bryson shows up in this one.

They were secretly lifted and transported to someplace in Atlanta, so they would destroy the central VNS center. Wouldn't Agent Webber and the rest of the VNS know what the building represents when they first saw it? Wouldn't that be discussed? Also, how did it take so long for them to get there? The VNS knew where the trio was sent, so they should have gone to the building as soon as they realized the trio were gone.

This makes me feel that Webber was sabotaging the VNS on purpose. She stated herself that she doesn't trust the VNS. Taking them down might have been her next step. There is not a doubt in my mind that she is working with Kaine.

Ready for the final book in the series!! Going to start The Game of Lives soon!
