I was very much between a 2 and 3 star rating since I would say it falls in a 2.5 rating, but I since I ‘round up’, I gave it a 3 star rating. This was based on thinking this was a book for YA or Adults, but it fell into the category for 'children'.

It’s cute little story, I’ll give it that, but I thought it was quite uncomplicated - simple words, super easy-to-read, simple writing that many authors could do - and really didn’t inspire me at all about dogs. Yes, dogs can be loyal, but isn’t that already a known fact?

While many believe dogs have uncomplicated minds, I felt like it was saying that there isn’t much that goes into their thought process. Overall, it made me feel like there was much more to be desired.

I found it difficult to make it through the pages because it was SO simplistic. The idea that dogs don’t entirely understand what other dogs are saying didn’t make me feel like it was even accurate.

I tend to cry easily, so I was ready for my tears to come at any point, but it never happened. Being an animal lover, and having worked with rescues and done fostering, I found this really lacking for an adult audience and more appropriate for young children.

I loved this book so much... seeing the world through the eyes of Bailey/Ellie/Buddy was eye-opening. I know that the book represents how one author theorizes a dog would think about the world, but it made me consider more deeply my own dog's experiences. I cried several times for reasons I won't divulge here (but I think would be obvious anyway). It's a very easy read once you get used to the way Bailey views the world, and it requires a lot of inference as Bailey doesn't always understand exactly what is going on (ex: humans "wrestling"). I look forward to reading the other books in this series. :)

"I will miss you doddle dog."

Whilst different from its film counterpart this book finds itself holding a piece of my heart. Reading from a dog's perspective was a unique experience but I do love Baileys innocence on his views of the world. Watching him fall in love with the ways of man, and finding his purpose of life, his purpose in the world. I was so happy to watching him helping and making his mark.

I knew the premise of the book, being that Bailey is a dog, who had the ability to live multiple lives. Yet, if you think that i didn't completely ball my eyes out each time Bailey moved into a new life, but that was nothing to how hard I cried at the ending of the book.

I know for sure that I will now continue to with Baileys journey in the next book.
