I love the way Abdi writes, but this is not an easy book to read, to be honest, sexual assault and hazing and depicted and it was no easy, specially because it felt real.
I liked to that the characters were flawed, all made mistakes, made choices that could be seen as selfish, but that’s life, sometimes people choose to do what seems safer, even if maybe not the right thing to do, and have to live with the consequences of those actions and choices.

This is probably the best book I've ever read. And the author's note just makes it that much better. That is nit to say it doesn't have its flaws but that story is beautiful and the message is inspiring and needs to be heard.
