I thought this story would focus on
The daughter and best friend after the mom/friend passes away.  But the first like 70 pages all center around the husband and how he's a shitty dad and husband. No thanks

I was not a huge fan of Firefly Lane, but I was curious to find out what happened to the family after losing Katie…my own mother died from breast cancer and I know the toll it has taken on my family. Kristin Hannah perfectly depicted grief “Grief is a sneaky thing, always coming and going like some guest you didn’t invite and can’t turn away.” Even after 3.5 years my grief over the loss of my mother is still as sharp as a knife. I appreciate the agony and heartbreak that Kristin put into this book. It was real. Not everyone can appreciate it or will like it, but I do. ❤️

This was a perfectly written story to follow Firefly Lane. It had so much depth and emotions that I found myself connected to each character. I especially love how this book dove into the trauma of Tully’s mom and why she was the way she was.

To add- the way this book flipped between past and present was written BEAUTIFULLY.

The book was well written, but this and the first one were both foreboding, heavy, and sad to me, so they weren’t my favorite books to read.

This is the ending of Firefly Lane. Sad painful hopeful and wise. I learned to love Dorothy Jean/Cloud and Tully. This book is about grief and forgiveness. I loved Mariah for finding herself and Johnny and the twins for finding a way forward. Then there is Katie. ❤️

So this is technically book 2 but I didn't read book 1. I don't feel like I needed book 1 to understand the story.

As usual, Kristin Hannah tells another heartbreaking story. This is of love and loss but of friends turned family. Tully loses her best friend to cancer and also her found family and herself. This story goes into the depths of addiction and grief and recovery and forgiveness. It is painfully sad and beautiful all at once.
