I accidentally listened to #3 in this character's series before the other 2 books...oops. It was still a solid stand-alone story. This is the second book I've read from this author, and I'll be adding him to the list of reliable authors that I follow.

“The Deep Dark Descending” (Max Rupert and Joe Talbert Book 4)
4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was quite the reading!
Although repetitive, the writing was good and definitely engaging.
The development of the story and the structure of the book was well executed.
The story was, as expected, dark and violent, and it may not please everyone, but I was very happy with the execution and conclusion.
Another fast read.

I had the audiobook read by R C Bray. His voice is interesting, but still feels too old and raspy for Max.

Detective Max Rupert was given a clue to his wife’s killer he is on a mission to track the man down in this book for revenge and retribution. There’s other things happening too for more interest.

Max is growing on me as a personality. He is a good man in a bad place with his grief. This book is quite emotional. I really felt for Max.

This is my 2nd favourite of the series after book 1.  What a cracker!
You really need to read them in order as there’s a continuing story and character development arc across the books.

Gently dnfing at 11% because I didn't realize it's the 4th book in the series. Might go back and read the full series someday.
