This book is excellently crafted. It doesn't feel like history at all. If anything, it feels like a historical romance, but the lead character is literally the Queen of England. I do love Victoria and Albert's story. I enjoyed the movie called The Young Victoria with Emily Blunt, and I also very much enjoyed the PDS TV show called Victoria. All of those adaptations are very close to each other, so one would assume that they are pretty accurate to the true life events. I always wonder about True Life adaptations, if they are really as true as one hopes them to be.

It was an okay novel. I am not really interested in romance novels and thought Victoria would persuade me. Yet it was an average book in the such genre.

Fiction in the historical fiction is key here, especially with the Queen Victoria and Lord Melbourne debacle.

This book is just ok. It tells the story of Queen Victoria's young days, her yearning to breaking free from her mother's hold, her secret infatuation with her Prime Minister to her struggle to be what her people expect her to be. But after Book I, everything else started to feel redundant and mundane. Besides reading about Queen Victoria's very early days, when she was newly crowned and adjusting to her new position, everything else was rather boring and worth skipping.

I’m not one who usually reads historical fiction but I liked the story of Victoria and Lord M. I thought it was well written and informative if you know nothing about the English royals.
