If the premise of this book sounds interesting to you I would say to give it a try. You will not be left better or worse off for having read it, and it's a fun palate cleanser between more serious books. The characters are static, but the journey is fun and has perfectly placed dark humor. Parts of this book seem like an unpolished first draft, while others are beautifully written. Definitely worth a shot.

I really like it! It's def a work made by someone who loves the original horror classics but is willing to put a twist on them to make the stories more impactful. I wish the characters were more like a family, though. When bad stuff starts happening, I really wanted them to be more supportive of each other, but they dove right into fighting, and it wears on you after awhile. So... not found family, but it's a fun time!

I think it would have been a little better with a female author.

Can’t quite put my finger on what I didn’t like about this book. I guess I went into it expecting one thing and got a completely different thing. I didn’t understand the motivations of most of the characters. I’m don’t think I got the point of what the author was trying to say, if anything. At times the writing felt good, and at others it felt repetitive. The cast of characters felt a little one-dimensional and could’ve used some fleshing out (excuse the pun). I wish we were given more time to care about them in the beginning of the story so we could understand this long journey the narrator embarked on. Would love to see a version of this book written by a woman.

"The Final Girl Support Group" has finally won me over to Grady Hendrix. Any mention to an 80s slasher tends to draw me in but, in this renaissance of 80s horror in literature, "The Final Girls Support Group" stands King of the crop.

The main protagonist, Lynette, continues to be delightfully dangerous throughout the novel, at some points not truly convincing me she was the correct one. The main plot of the final girls attacked, all feels like a mad woman pulling at strings at first. It all culminates into a homage to the 80s slasher.

Truly, a great sequel to some masters of horror.

I liked this book, not sure if I would classify it as horror though. Yes it was violent to a certain extent, but it felt more thriller-esque.
If one is looking for a book to fall in love with the characters, this one isn't it's done extremely well.
I liked how, as a reader, one constantly went from thinking the main character is right to thinking she's absolutely making all of it up in her head, back to thinking it's real and so on.
