Ik heb te veel tijd genomen voor dit boek om het nu nog op te pakken. Daarom leg ik hem aan de kant en ga ik hem eens helemaal opnieuw lezen. Hij was namelijk zeker niet slecht!

super compelling and fun read!! enjoyed the way dark academia themes were discussed (even though none of it was subtle at all) but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of reading this novel. really enjoyed Alex as the main character. Leigh Bardugo has such a way with writing flawed yet lovable characters. yum yum yum

A good read! Really liked the world building and the characters. The main characters are all very distinct, and they feel real even in the begging of the story.
It’s not a 5 star only because:
1. I didn’t obsess over it as I usually do with my 5-star reads. It was good, but I didn’t feel lingering connections to the story.
2.
The ending felt a little too convenient for the story. It was definitely well plotted, it made sense, but it felt too clean cut to the book vibes, yn?

I put this book off for the last 4 years. I heard everyone raving about it and I was nervous I 1. Wouldn’t like it, or 2. Would love it and fall into a book slump.

Well I clearly loved it. Learning about the magic and ghosts and how this all worked in these hidden societies made it such a fast read. There were plenty of surprises and a few times it was hard to follow because so much was rapidly changing for being explained.

I have immediately jumped into Hell Bent and can’t wait to see where the Alex Stern series goes.
