Again, I see its influences more now. I wish I knew what Utterson thought at the end. Still, I enjoy the premise and sense of creepiness through the characters.

There’s a reason this is considered a classic - the story itself is fantastic and would been ground breaking upon its release, which I can fully appreciate. Stars were lost for me purely because of the writing style - it just wasn’t my thing as it was very much of the time; I find it can feel a bit over-explanatory. That aside, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and am glad to have experienced it first hand given how famous it is. It’s short enough that I would definitely recommend it for anyone interested in reading the classics, and of course particularly those who enjoy horror!
