Lara Adrian

This book is amazing. I'm glad that 28th June is almost here for another book of Lara Adrian.
I'm so very content with this series that I can't put my feelings properly in words.

I've always wanted to get to know Andreas Reichen better and I wasn't disappointed.
Lara Adrian creates this amazing love stories that in the end you just want to cry for joy because the characters you love so dearly finally have their happy ending.
I think she excelled herself in creating Andreas Reichen. He's just a complex, complicated, handsome man. That makes the perfect package.
He and Tegan stayed in my memory and in my heart because of those characteristics. They're men that are worth fighting for. Just beautiful to watch them surrender to love.
Although all warriors are complicated, complex and gorgeous men those two suffered pretty much for many, many years. (I'm just gone confess that Tegan was lost to me since I first read about his gem-green eyes - I can't help it).

About Claire, I really liked her. She's a kind, strong woman. She puts other welfare above her own and she doesn't care if that is going to be bad for her.
She was naïve because she wanted to be, in my POV. Her husband sends her to a country house and doesn't care for her - hell, he doesn't even care that everybody knows that he doesn't love her - so why bother and try to figure out what kind of man her husband his?
She chose her path - or the path was chosen for her - that presented more personal security in a foreign country.
I also believe that she chose to stay in Germany because of the proximity to Reichen and the possibility to know about his whereabouts. I know I'd do the same thing if I was Claire.

I love these love stories, the ones that have a common background. The reunion is what I love more about these stories. It amazes me how the feeling still persists in the 30 years that passed without seeing each other or having contact with one another. I's so romantic, so lovely.
Reichen surprised me. His ability that we knew nothing about is extraordinary. I was a little scared to read about his change although this change is comprehensible.
It takes a will of iron to control that pyrokinesis'. I was glad to realize that in the end he literally played with fire and didn't get burn.

I'd love to see Lara Adrian writing in another genre. She's amazing, has talent for words in spades so I'd really, really love to see her writing more books although I love Midnight Breed.

Another great addition to the Midnight Breed series! In this book, Adrian takes a character who was brought in to help the Order in Europe and makes him the star of his own story.
After Andreas's whole family was killed in a bloody attack by longtime rival and second-in command to Dragos, Roth, he loses control of his pyrokinetic gift and burns the whole Darkhaven to the ground. As people in Roth's circle of enforcers start to die off one at a time, Roth begins to wonder who is killing these people by fire. He tries to remove his Breedmate, Claire, from her home in the country and they are met with a wall of fire in the form of Andreas.
Claire recognizes Andreas as her former lover, someone who she never really got over and tries to help him as he tries to get her to understand that her mate, who she is not close to, is involved in sme shady dealings. The two fight their attraction to each other but in a moment of weakness, Andreas drinks from Claire and they are now connected in a way that Roth can feel. As the Order gets involved to try to shut down the breeding of Gen One vampires, the most deadly, Claire and Andreas become a vital key to that operation.
This book was a fast-moving story and I will be looking forward to continuing with this series.

Claire Roth is the Breedmate of Wilhem Roth. He is the leader of the Agency, who enforces Breed laws in Europe. Unfortuntely, he is also aligned with Dragos, a Gen One vampire who is trying to create an army of warriors to take out the human race and all vampires who oppose him. Dragos has in his possession, an Ancient, one of the original aliens who came to Earth centuries before and spawned the vampire race. For years, Claire has been in love with Andreas Reichen but Roth, in his devious manner, entrapped Claire into marrying him. Now she is torn between her love for Andreas and Roth. Roth is plotting with Dragos to bring down the Order, a band of vampire warrior sworn to protect humans and the rest of their race. Lots of mayhem and romance ensue, as they do in all Adrian's books, another enjoyable visit. I do so love a vampire who is 6'6", wearing a black leather trenchcost and Doc Martens.

***4.5 out of 5 stars***

I'm loving that I can totally reconnect with this series by doing listening to all the books for my re-read. I loved where Adrian took the storyline with Ashes of Midnight and can't wait to start Shades of Midnight now.

Sixth in the series. This hero was not my favorite, and I really, really wished one of the scenes near the end had been fleshed out more to put the focus back on the main couple, but all in all I liked it and will read the next one when it comes out. I thank Ms. Adrian for keeping true to the earlier books as the series has progressed, unlike J. R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood, which pretty much fell apart for me with books 5 and 6.

I just couldn't get into this one. I like Andreas, but I wasn't dying to know more about him, so I started this one a little 'meh' anyway. In my opinion, the secondary plot line dealing with Dragos, Roth, and the Ancient was more interesting to me than the love story between Claire and Andreas. I am giving Claire some cool points for her Breedmate gift though.

Really, more like 3.5.

I've been honestly hooked to Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series. I loved loved loved the 3rd and 4th book, and the 5th did not leave me disappointed. However there was just something SO frustrating about this book.

Don't get me wrong: there were a lot of positives as well. The saving grace of this book, that pulled it up from a 3 to a 3.5 almost 4 was the action. It has probably some of the most intense and most addicting action scenes in the whole series so far. It kept me interested, scared, and on my toes. Holy hell the last fight scene. (LOOK FORWARD TO IT FUTURE READERS!)

Also. "Holy hell" Renata is fucking amazing. If I gave her shit for being a bit too standoffish and hard to relate to from the previous book, I want to take that all back. She is so fucking kick ass, I pretty much want to be her.

As you can see, I just complimented Renata instead of Claire... yeah, that's because I really didn't understand what was so great about her. I understand she's pretty, she's wise, she can hold her face up in almost any situation, whatever whatever. But honestly I found her so... useless. I honestly need more Renata and Elise's out there. Despite the fact that Andreas called Claire strong and his beacon whatever whatever, I just could not find that strength in her. Even though Dylan in book 4, didn't have the fighting and survival skills of Renata or even Elise, I found her much more logical, strong-willed, and relatable than Claire.

Okay, I'm sorry for hating on Claire. It may just be that I will always have this part of me that wishes Helene was a breedmate and her and Andreas ended up working out. Now, HELENE was a strong character and I LOVED her bad ass business women like ways. I was heartbroken when she was killed off in the last book, and was desperately hoping that Claire could step in and be even better than Helene. However, I feel like Claire's a step down from Helene for Andreas... I'm totally being bitter betty, but I can't help it. HELENE WAS AWESOME, OKAY?!

I guess I don't want to put all the blame on Claire. I felt that out of all the books and characters so far, Andreas' and Claire's relationship has been the most frustrating. The back and forth dance they did was not fun or exciting-just frustrating. Neither of them made logical sense and I felt like I was witnessing a downward spiral that would only be fixed in the last 3 pages of the book (which is pretty much what happened). Sure there were other illogical frustrating parts to the last few books (ie. Renata-Niko-Mira's relationship, Dylan's spontaneous escape out the apartment window, Elise and Tegan's tango, etc) but... this relationship definitely was the most difficult to read straight through without a few pauses here and there to complain about the two characters.

Ah I feel like I only ever say the bad things about books I read, I guess I feel that if I'm giving it a decent rating, then it's an over all enjoyable read, but there were certain annoyances.

So in the end I'll say this: Definitely a worth while read to continue the series. However, it's not one of the more memorable relationships in the series, and it's not one I plan on rereading any time soon. Action scenes were great, the secondary characters were fantastic (particularly Tegan and Renata), the sex scenes of course are awesome, just the character development and some of the choices they made, made this rating falter compared to the last few books in the series.

i think paranormal romance just isn't for me. a fun distraction though!
