Julia
is not nearly as deplorable in this book because she (slowly) sees the error of her ways and finally starts taking responsibility for her actions and prepares for the consequences of them. Marcus and
Hadassah
remain the best part of this book. Thankfully for me, there is no Atretes to be seen.
I did find this book more palatable for a conservative Christian, content-wise. The first book is all the bad things and this is all the resolution to the bad things. So it isn’t at all as intense to read in regards to “objectionable” content, although this is still very much realistic to the era.
