This was certainly a different time for comics in both art and writing styles, but even with that in mind, it is surprising to me that a series that is so consequential to each of the main characters is also so boring and badly written. Also did not age terribly well.
So bad. Just so, so terrible. From the dated writing to the rudimentary art, this was awful. Wanda calling Vision “vizh”?!? Vision calling Wanda “curlytop”?!? Gag. Oh, and the not to be forgotten affair between Crystal and...Norm Baker.
Love it so many amazing stories showing scarlet witch and vision love
A Year in the Life is dated in its clumsy handling of Black characters and patronising treatment of women (it was written in the 80s), but is still fun in places. It follows Vision and Wanda as they try to have a normal life in a suburban town but things don't go to plan, basically. My highlight was the awkward Thanksgiving family dinner with Magneto, Quicksilver, an Inhuman and their new neighbours - great stuff. Worth a look, especially if you're watching the wonderful WandaVision but it gets bogged down in confusing superhero family trees and feels very 'of its time'.
Two stars just for the conception of Billy and Tommy that we get to see (no, it's not that, get your mind out of the gutter) I guess I'd rather give it 1.5 stars for that. The rest of it is-- ugh. I don't have time to get into everything wrong. I think the worst part was Vision getting sexually assaulted by Amora but then he jokes about it cause he actually "liked" it, then gets mad when Wanda gets upset. Who thought this was a good idea?
it's a pretty simple and short series, there's nothing much going on plotwise besides just wanda and vis looking for some peace and quiet
to be honest up till now i never really cared much about their relationship (tho i do appreciate both characters singularly) but i really enjoyed how it was written here!! plus that ending was very sweet and heartwarming <3

Definitely a wordy book. Comics gave a lot of detail so any new reader wouldn’t be confused coming in. Great for them, less great for me.
Although, as someone newer to Vision/Scarlett Witch it was helpful to have the extra detail regarding their powers.

I've been a big fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a long, long time but I never really delved into the comics because I knew they were incredibly different to what was being produced on screen. However, after being left in limbo after the ending of Wandavision, I was craving for more from Vision and Wanda so I looked into which comics inspired the show and came across A Year In The Life.
My reading seems to have taken a hit this year again so when it was taking me a while to get through the 12 volumes in this collection, and struggling to really follow in places because naturally there's a lot more superheros than currently present in the MCU, I knew I was in a big of trouble.
I liked seeing Wanda and Vision trying to live a normal life and some of the fears/persecution they faced from the townsfolk and the art style was fun. But I didn't come away with it feeling much thrill sadly.
